UCCS BioFrontiers Center

CCS BioFrontiers Lab

The UCCS BioFrontiers Center is devoted to collaborations between scientists across disciplines to advance biotechnology. The initial focus of the center is to complete collaborative research projects in biology and physics. Our goal is to attract talented researchers and students by providing an environment that encourages and rewards innovative thinking and collaborative research. As BioFrontiers grows, additional research areas will be added, bridging such disciplines as physics, chemistry, engineering, mathematics, computational science, and biology.

Center for Magnetism and Magnetic Nanostructures

Center for Magnetism and Magnetic Nanostructures

Magnetic materials are used nowadays in all aspects of life from data storage to navigation, sensing, data processing, power-generating windmills, and MRI. The Center for Magnetism and Magnetic Nanostructures (CMMN) is dedicated to the study of magnetism from its fundamentals to applications, particularly in ultra-small magnetic structures. Our Center has access to state-of-the-art equipment for magnetic materials growth, nanostructuring, and characterization.

Center for Advanced Technologies and Optical Materials

Liquid crystals

Since its foundation in 2011, the Center for Advanced Technologies and Optical Materials (CATOM) has been devoted to serving and enriching the following major interrelated areas: research, technological development, and education. From a fundamental understanding of the physical properties of liquid crystals, polymers, thin films, and nanoparticles to technological advancement in creating novel functional materials and designing devices based on them, the Center establishes pioneering research to reach ground-breaking hi-tech milestones.
